Oil storage system and generator

ARE YOUR ADHERING TO THE LATEST OIL STORAGE REGULATIONS?

Making it our mission to keep you in the know and ensure your equipment is compliant with the UK’s current regulations. Want to arrange a check? Contact our offices in Kent or Honiton to reach the CSL Power Systems Ltd team and find a suitable date and time.

AVOID THE PENALTIES OF
NON-COMPLIANT OIL STORAGE

In a bid to safeguard public health and protect the surrounding environment, the Environmental Agency and Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs specify strict regulations when it comes to the storage of oil. If your generator is connected to an oil supply tank with a capacity of 201 litres or more, you must adhere to these guidelines. Failure to do so could result in a fine or further action, depending on the nature of the situation.

Upon request, we can conduct a full site survey to determine if you comply with the current oil storage and OFTEC regulations. Once complete, you will receive a condition report on your fuel storage and transfer systems, indicating areas that require attention and secondary containment or additional leak detection monitoring.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DOES THIS APPLY TO?

Any oil supply tank with a capacity of 201ltrs or more, for both stand-by generators and those used on a daily basis where the tank’s full capacity of oil is not used in one day. If you’re not sure if this applies to you, please contact CSL Power Systems Ltd to learn more.

PLAYING YOUR PART IN MITIGATING RISKS

Should oil be handled or stored incorrectly, the threat to safety escalates. Oil storage regulations were implemented to avoid this, ensuring these highly flammable, potentially dangerous substances do not cause harm to users or the surrounding environment.

PROTECTING
OUR PLANET

An oil spill can be detrimental to wildlife, trees and waterways, which is why it’s imperative that we take measures to ensure these are avoided. Should your equipment be the source of an oil spill, the responsibility will lay on you to manage the clean-up and any associated costs. Our services aim to stop this from happening.

DOES YOUR FUEL ADHERE TO THE CURRENT EMISSIONS REGULATIONS?

Effectively implementing oil storage practices and adherence to the latest regulations are essential for the responsible operation of oil fuelled generators in the UK. However, it’s also important to perform regular testing on your fuel to ensure it isn’t potentially harmful to the user and your system’s components.

For added peace of mind, we can collect samples and conduct a full analysis to ensure your fuel complies with the current emission regulations. Should we find contaminants or other factors that could prove detrimental to your equipment, its performance, and the environment, CSL Power Systems Ltd are also able to support you with fuel cleaning with use of our own polishing machine.
